Today we will make a coffee table with you cottages in a rustic style. Maybe this table is not very practical and not suitable for every interior, but it is somewhat original and unusual that you just want to make it.
After you have been patient and willing to make such beauty, begin the work itself. You need from plywood (thickness 20 mm) to make the frame of the future table. The base should be 80x60 cm in size, and a box with dimensions of 68x45x40 cm will be mounted on top of it. Fig. 2
Now you need to cut 30 chocks (length 45 cm) and 24 round pieces (thickness 3 cm) for the future countertop. Of course, before that you stocked up with specially selected birch trunks. But you will be sawing such a number of blanks with a hand hacksaw for three days, so use an electric circular saw.
On the entire perimeter of your drawer, attach already prepared chocks to the PVA glue, and then screw the furniture rollers from the bottom to the base (the distance from the edge should be about 2-3 cm). Fig. 3
For greater reliability (this is all at your discretion), so that the table does not accidentally fall apart, it would be nice to screw each chock with screws to the base end. And you can also fix it on the side walls of the frame. Tighten where the letter B. stands. Fig. 4
Now start screwing the plywood lid onto the box. After that, stick on it roundabouts already prepared by you. All the spaces that are between the round beads must be filled with non-shrink putty for wood. Be sure to apply it gradually, make intervals between drying. If you apply putty at a time, it may eventually crack. Fig. 5
Wait until the putty is completely dry and walk along the surface of your new table with a surface grinder. It is necessary to remove all irregularities, so that later it would be convenient to put something on the countertop.
The finishing touch is covering the round table with clear polyurethane varnish. When the varnish is completely dry, you can apply and admire your newly made rustic table.
