Hello to all lovers homemade, everyone who to some extent works with the tree probably has a separate device dedicated to grinding, whether on a grinding machine or manually, but sometimes it happens that the workpiece is round in shape or it needs to be sanded inside. In this article, I will describe how the author made grinding drums do it yourselfby which the finishing work will not be a burden.
To make this homemade product we will need materials such as:
* Wooden planks, their thickness can vary, for the middle drum it is 15-20mm.
* Steel rod or pre-made bolt.
* Washers and nuts.
*Sandpaper.
* Joiner and PVA glue.
* Crowns or so-called core drills.
* Rubber bands for banknotes.
First step. In order to start work, we need to determine the size of the drum, after the dimensions are selected, we select a crown for the same size. We drill 5 round billets with a crown installed in a drilling machine, this number can be changed depending on the desired height and on the thickness of the billets themselves.
Second step. Armed with PVA glue, glue the adjacent surfaces of the finished round billets and clamp them together using a vice, observe the gluing accuracy so that one bar does not go beyond the edges of the other. At this stage, the strength properties of PVA glue will be enough.
Wait for it to dry completely, then fix the bolt in the middle in the drilled hole and tighten with nuts on both sides, after having thrown the washer on both sides.
Third step. This stage requires the presence of a grinding machine or sandpaper, with the first method it will be easier and faster. We clamp the bolt with the finished drum into the cordless drill and grind it with a large emery cloth, gradually we turn to a smaller grain size, thereby giving a smooth surface to our drum.
Fourth step. The final stage of the assembly includes cleaning the drums from dust that was formed in the previous stage, as well as covering the surface with carpentry glue for sticking the grinding element. With ordinary scissors, cut out a piece of sandpaper pre-marked for size and glue the butt to the joint on the adhesive surface of the drum, and so that it does not protrude during the drying of the glue, secure it with banknotes for a while.
After that. as the glue finally dries, you can use homemade in its intended purpose, try the drums in practice.
