I want to make a reservation right away that this shelf is for summer kitchen at the cottage, so do not judge strictly. And at the same time, it’s from such simple, simple furniture homemadeworth starting. So you can definitely understand if it’s worth moving on to something more complex, like folding table, bookshelves, computer table, or it’s better to immediately finish your own, almost not begun, practical experience of a joiner.
In my case, it all started not even with the need to hang a shelf for something in the open kitchen, but with a piece of polished thick glass, measuring 180 by 800 mm from some kind of of furniturethat just was. And since winter is the best time to do something for the house, the next weekend I went to the nearest company selling sheet boards, where I ordered four parts plus a hardboard for the back wall from the rest (color was completely unimportant).
There he bought 5 meters of paper edge in tone, 12 Euro-bolts (or confirms), two dozen screws with a length of 35 mm,
four corners for glass shelves and two canopies.
And everything else, such as tape measure, pencil, ruler,
furniture knife, awl,
confirmation drill, hex and cross bits with magnetic extension for quick change,
bars with felt (instead, boldly take a soft rag) and sandpaper,
as well as a drill / driver and iron were at my place.
We paste over the outer parts of our future shelf. With a hot iron, smooth the edge, and then immediately level it with felt. Now we cut off the excess and, if necessary, go through the sandpaper.
Alternatively, order this service in the same place where you will buy a cut: for very little money and in a matter of minutes, you will be glued with a plastic edge.
We drill holes for the length (do not get carried away so as not through) of the pins,
and insert (should fit tightly) the corners for the glass shelf.
Now the most important thing is to correctly mark the “box” of our shelf. Therefore, the rule - measure seven times - one cut (in our case - drilled), will be the main one. After all, there’s nothing complicated: we drill with a confirm drill and screw Eurobolts first on one side,
then on the other,
finally, we also fasten the second vertical part.
Turn over, lay the hardboard back wall and fasten the awnings.
Now we fix it in a circle.
We hang the finished structure on the wall and insert the glass shelf.
If all sizes are calculated correctly, then it will go "tight": it will not hang out, but it will also not be necessary to cut the glass. And note, the entire production took 40 minutes on the strength. And I did it not in a special workshop, but in an ordinary apartment on the loggia. So, you can easily repeat.
Spring came, and the shelf went to the cottage. But here is the misfortune, the indefatigable ardor of my mother, who never sits in place, and she decided to lay the summer kitchen with tiles found in the "bins of the motherland."
So now she patiently waits until this process of country improvement is over. Although I will seem trite, but the repair in the country can not be completed, it can only be abandoned.
